L'erede della 159, attesa per il 2012, dovrebbe utilizzare un pianale modificato della Giulietta e, in gran segreto, si stanno sperimentando prototipi a trazione posteriore.
L'Alfa Romeo sta compiendo dei test su un prototipo con ossatura della Chrysler 300C e trazione integrale. La Giulia dovrebbe arrivare nel 2012, anche in versione sportiva con il V6 Pentastar da circa 300 CV.
